The Farms
The town of Whiteley was built on the site of three farms and several copses and their names have been used as follows:
Whiteley Way - Whiteley Farm (land between Bluebell Way and Camellia Gardens) and Whiteley Pastures - (land opposite the M&S Store).
Sweethills Crescent - Sweethill Copse - land that was situated between Dickens Road and the Botley Road and Timor Close and Kingsley Way.
Yew Tree Drive - Yew Tree Farm - land that was situated around Connemara Crescent and Persian Drive.
Rookery Avenue comes from the farm situated to the East of the roundabout on the junction of Yew Tree Drive and the Botley Road - Rookery Farm.
